GASTRONOMIC HEAVEN
If you're a lover of French gastronomy then you've found the perfect place. La Peyriere is sat within some of France's most distinguished regions for food, including a range of protected 'AOC' produce.
Within an hour of the house you'll find production of Roquefort, Confit de Canard, Foie Gras as well as the rearing of Aubrac and Limousin cattle.
You'll also be able to discover the less well known but equally delicious foods of the region. These include Aligot a creamy, cheesy mashed potato, La Fouace a hearty pastry and Cabécous one of the most delightful goats cheeses.
Markets run every day in the region and local producers also sell directly, you may come across a few as you drive around. There's in fact a cracking little fromagerie behind the Intermarche in La Fouillade, selling a range of cheese, home made yoghurts and also gold top milk.

The market is as central to French daily life as the baguette. The area is fortunate to be surrounded by some lovely markets, with an extra few put on in the summer months. Of course you’re expected to taste the produce from stall holders. Do dive in and make the most of it! Here are a list of what’s on locally.

NIGHT MARKETS | MARCHÉ NOCTURNE
During the summer, the region comes to life with nightly food markets ‘marche gourmands’ or ‘marche nocturnes’.
You’ll get the chance to choose food and drink from a host of stalls and experience the best local hospitality and gastronomy. Locals in the know even bring their own cutlery and glasses!
You’ll see signs by the roadside advertising dates and venues.
