THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

The Aveyron is a place where you can combine a love of the outdoors and fine gastronomy. An area known for its superb food and an abundance of local produce. It also has some of the best cycling in France, so it’s an ideal place to enjoy a gourmet cycling break – and we all know that food and cycling make perfect partners.

The team at AAGAC can provide you with a range of bikes, including electric mountain bikes, the rides are self guided however it's also possible to hire a guide if you'd prefer to ride with a local.

Trails and routes are accessible directly from the house and distances calculated to you give you enough time to enjoy long leisurely lunches along the way. There are also a range of cracking restaurants nearby to choose from in the evening.

Prices are €800 for a 3 night stay for the entire house, €200 per night thereafter, including:

  • Accommodation for up to 8 people including fire wood
  • Private swimming pool, table tennis and pool table
  • Cave with tools, bike rack, pressure washer
  • Riding guides and consultation beforehand

VTT | TRAILS FOR EVERYONE

The driveway of the house is actually part of a network of mountain bike trails that makes its way across Bor et Bar, Najac and beyond. The terrain is varied with plenty of singletrack, rocky descents and incredible views.

The trail system in France is graded like in a ski resort: green for tootle, black for full throttle. Maps are available in the Najac tourist office for €3.

The cave is equipped with bike racks and basic equipment to service your bike each day. There’s also a great rental spot in Najac called AAGAC, www.aagac.com.

ROAD CYCLING  | CYCLISME

2016 saw the arrival of the Tour de France to the area, for a well overdue return. The roads around the Aveyron, Tarn-et-Garonne and Lot are made for cycling.

The terrain is undulating, the scenery spectacular and the descents truly rewarding. As this is the Aveyron, the traffic is favourable and the roads are pristine, ribbons of impeccable asphalt. The weather outside of July and August is perfect for riding. and incredibly smooth asphalt.

The garage, or cave, has been setup to accommodate groups of bikers with racks, basic tools and space to clean and service your dearly beloved.

Guides and maps are sent well in advance so you can plan your trip and agree which resturants you want to visit for lunch!

FOR FOOD LOVERS

If you're a lover of French gastronomy then you've found the perfect place. La Peyriere is sat within some of France's most distinguished regions for food, including a range of protected 'AOC' produce.

Within an hour of the house you'll find production of Roquefort, Confit de Canard, Foie Gras as well as the rearing of Aubrac and Limousin cattle.

You'll also be able to discover the less well known but equally delicious foods of the region. These include Aligot a creamy, cheesy mashed potato, La Fouace a hearty pastry and Cabécous, a locally produced goats cheese.

Markets run every day in the region and local producers also sell directly, you may come across a few as you drive around. There's in fact a cracking little fromagerie behind the Intermarche in La Fouillade, selling a range of cheese, home made yoghurts and also gold top milk.
