A stunning bastide town with a gorgeous square and maze of streets, it’s our closest major town with a stunning, expansive market every Thursday.
Villefranche was originally a trading centre and on the Compostela route.
The arcaded main square, in the centre of the town, is dominated by the church tower which is almost 60m high. Have a wander around the streets by the square and you’ll be able to see the merchant’s houses and stone carvings.
